Ventura Irrigated Lands Program

Ventura County’s 2023 Ag Order will have a significant impact on growing operations on the southern Central Coast in the coming years. Complying with Surface Water Total Daily Maximum Loads (TMDLs) and reporting Irrigation and Nutrient Management Reports (INMRs) can be complex. Implementation and compliance may be difficult for some ranches, watersheds, and crops.

There are new planning, monitoring, data gathering, and reporting requirements that may necessitate improving on-farm and off-farm systems. The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board will assess whether each ranch is meeting surface water limits through monitoring and/or management plan implementation, and failure to meet these limits could, in turn, trigger long-term increasing compliance requirements.
