The engineers and specialists in the Municipal Utilities Group at Provost & Pritchard work on projects related to water supply, water storage, water distribution, and wastewater conveyance. They are involved in every stage of the process from initial planning and alternatives analysis to design and construction of the infrastructure.

Utility Planning

Our team works closely with cities and districts in planning for future growth and development of their communities. This work includes master planning, hydraulic modeling, development evaluations, water supply assessments, capital improvement plans, and rate studies.

Design and Construction

Our team has completed projects for both small, disadvantaged communities throughout California and large-scale projects for major cities in the Central Valley. We have designed and supported construction of wells, tanks, lift stations, pumping stations, and water/sewer mains. This work includes:

  • Preparation of engineering reports to document issues within the community’s systems, develop alternative solutions, and recommend implementable projects.
  • Development of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Construction support provided by our design team to assist with ensuring improvements are constructed according to the construction documents.

Technical Assistance

Provost & Pritchard holds two grants from the State Water Resources Control Board to assist communities across California with their drinking water challenges. Through these programs, we can work directly with the most underserved and in-need communities to bring them access to safe drinking water. This work addresses the Human Right to Water initiatives established by the State and codified by the California Legislature in 2012. These grants receive funding from the Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience Program, adopted in 2019. Additionally, we work with several non-profit organizations to provide technical assistance for wastewater and stormwater needs in these same communities.

Financial Assistance

Many of the communities we assist are disadvantaged in some way and require financial assistance to implement projects that enhance their resilience and sustainability. We have helped hundreds of communities in applying for and securing financial assistance from both state and federal governments to either evaluate and design their projects or bring a project through construction. By leveraging these resources, communities of any size can achieve their goals.
