Ward and Las Palmas Avenue Intersection Improvements
The City of Patterson, in coordination with the Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG), was awarded two Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grants to modify the existing traffic signals and construct the remaining improvements to the intersection of Ward Avenue and West Las Palmas Avenue. The project widened the road to allow channelization of traffic and modified the existing signals to allow protected left turn phases. The project also filled gaps in pedestrian improvements such as new sidewalk, AC trail, curb ramps and crosswalks to provide for pedestrian safety and ADA compliance. The existing pavement in the intersection was also rehabilitated using a grind and overlay with a paving mat. In addition to providing surveying, planning, and design services, Provost & Pritchard also worked with Caltrans District 10 Local Assistance to prepare Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM) documents such as the Preliminary Environmental Study (PES) and the Request for Authorization to Proceed with Construction. Provost & Pritchard also provided topographic and boundary surveying, planning, design, federal aid support, and bidding and construction phase support services for these improvements.
