Derrick and 7th Street Intersection Beautification and Reconstruction
Provost & Pritchard was responsible for the reconstruction and beautification of the Derrick Avenue (State Route 33) and 7th Street intersection in Mendota. The project realigned the intersection and constructed a monument sign and small plaza as the entry to Mendota’s downtown commercial district. Derrick Avenue is also State Route 33, so coordination with Caltrans was essential to the project’s success. Coordination with PG&E was required for the relocation of a major gas transmission facility. The project included new pavement for the road realignment, pavement rehabilitation, curb and gutter, storm water collection and conveyance, signing and striping, streetlights, landscaping and irrigation, as well as pedestrian improvements such as new sidewalk, curb ramps and crosswalks to provide for pedestrian safety and ADA compliance. Provost & Pritchard provided topographic and boundary surveying, planning, design, bidding, and construction phase support services for these improvements. The design (PE) of this project was primarily funded by RSTP/STBG funding and the construction was funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
