Planning Intern

Pay Range: $21/hr.

Summary

Provost & Pritchard is offering opportunities for an intern in our Planning department, who will gain experience researching and collecting data, assisting in preparation of documents, coordinating public noticing, and perform technical analysis at the direction of supervisory-level planning staff.

Duties

  • Research and/or organization of information and data to assist in the preparation of a variety of planning documents (e.g. environmental documents, general plans, specific plans, and development codes);
  • Research related to the development of plans through analysis of data and identification of goals for the community or the project;
  • May assist in the preparation and/or editing of the above documents;
  • Coordination of public noticing, outreach, and similar tasks.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in planning, or in a related field at an accredited college or university (related fields: Geography, Political Science, Biology, Geology, Environmental Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture);
  • Good writing and organizational skills required with attention to detail;
  • Solid working knowledge of Excel, Work, and Outlook (Microsoft Suite) programs;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Basic working knowledge of California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other federal environmental laws and regulations, California Planning and Zoning Law, and related statutes is desirable; and
  • Basic knowledge related to site design, planning principals, planning regulations, and/or agency procedure is desirable.
