Assistant/Associate Water Resources Specialist

Summary

The Water Resources Specialist will work on teams with engineers, geologists and other water resources specialists on a variety of water resources projects.  The candidate would provide services to local and regional water agencies including water districts, irrigation districts, groundwater management agencies, urban water agencies, as well as private agricultural companies.

Duties

  • Water resources planning and management
  • Hydrologic studies and water balance analysis
  • Urban and agricultural water management plans
  • Groundwater management, including developing and implementing Groundwater Sustainability Plans
  • Water conservation studies
  • Water rights applications
  • Preparation of reports and grant applications
  • Tracking new water policies and regulations
  • Assist with project management, budget tracking and supervision of support staff (Associate Water Resources Specialist)

Requirements

  • Experience in water resources planning and management (0-5 years for Assistant, 5-10 years for Associate)
  • Bachelor’s degree in water resources management, environmental science, environmental engineering, crop science, soil science or related program with an emphasis on water science
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Intermediate level MS Excel skills
  • Database management skills a plus
  • Master’s degree a plus
